Description	Photograph of the 1600 block of Wallace Street, a dilapidated house typical of the dwellings that will be remodeled in the used-house rehabilitation program announced by the redevelopment authority and Smith, Kline & French Labs.
Original Notes	From back of mount: Vacant, dilapidated house in the 1600 block of Wallace Street in the Spring Garden area of PHiladelphia is typical of the type of dwelling which will be remodeled in the used-house rehabilitation program announced by The Philadelphia Housing Authority and Smith kline & French Laboratories, the pharmaceutical firm. Hertzfeld and Horowitz Associates will remodel the houses and the Housing Authority will rent the apartments to low income families. Smith Kline & French, whose headquarters is nearby, will pay a portion of the developer's construction loan interest charges. The program will bring the first public housing into the spring garden area and will be the first time the Housing Authority has extended its used-house program to multi-family dwellings.
