"The library building at the University of Pennsylvania , which was criticised [sic] by Dr . Randolph G . Adams , a Penn alumnus , now librarian at the University of Michigan , in a report submitted to the annual convention of the Associated Pennsylvania Clubs in Detroit . It was declared the building was built 'in the very worst period of American architecture, ' that it is in a bad state , and that roof leaks in places , causing damage to valuable books. "
