Altman's Bakery Shop. In 1932 ""My parents Rose and Charles Altman purchased the property at 930 N. Marshall Street in Philadelphia's North Marshall Street business section. They proceeded to get the property and built a modern bakery including built-in hearth ovens with all the latest equipment. In the two floors above the bakery they installed a beautiful home and there we thrived happily and successfully for many years. As you may know, 1932 was the height of the Depression and jobs were scarce, however, at least a dozen families derived their livelihood from Atlman's Bakery including my brother Marcus and myself, Ada, making it truly a family business. . . .The bakery was fully unionized.""
