Jacob Kushner, b. 1895, nephew of Gittel & Motel and son of Chaya Kogan Kushner and Fivel Kushner immigrated from Krivoe Ozero, Russia to the United States in 1913 and settled in Philadelphia, where he learned by chance that Elka Krentzel lived in Philadelphia. A joyful reunion occured and Jacob, the 18, lived with Elka and Sam and became a part of the family. Jacob became a skilled carpenter. He became a citizenn on September 12, 1918 and was the first relative known to have sertved in the US Armed Forces. Jacob married Anna Martin and they had two children: Jenny (1921) and Phillip (1925).
