Menya Krentzel, 5th child of Motel & Gittel, born June 21, 1878 in Zhaskov, married Beryl Sander of Kenyla, Russia on June 21, 1896 in Zhaskov. Their five children, all born in Zhaskov: Avrum (1897); Basia (1899);Yetta (1905); Sam (1906) and Maier (1910). Beryl sold grain and groceries in Zhaskov and Avrum sold Dry Goods. Basia Sander married Ben Specter, made aliya to Israel to join othe Zhaskov families including the Dayan family in building the Jewish Homeland, Israel. Menya's oldest son, Avrum, was unable to leave Russia, and the Russian officials not allow Menya to visit him in Vinnitsia, Russia when she left for Palestine in 1936. Menya K. Sender, her husband, Beryl, and son, Mayer, arrived on the ship Byron in New York City on September 1, 1923 and came to Philadelphia to stay with Elka and Sam. Yetta arrived September 1, 1922 on the S.S. King Alexander. Sam arrived in New York on the Constantinople on October 2, 1923. Menya became a U.S. citizen in Philadelphia on April 26, 1933. Beryl became a U.S. citizen in Philadelphia on April 26, 1933. Beryl became a U.S. citizen in Philadelphia on June 26, 1930. Beryl Sander was one of the six founders of the Philadelphia Zhaskover Ferein in 1923 and became a Hebrew teacher in Philadelphia with family members as his students.
