Jean Gornish whose stage name was Sheindele de Chazente was known as the first female performer of Jewish liturgical music in the US. She was born in Philadelphia the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shloma Gornish and graduated from West Philadelphia High School. She performed in a number of venues including performances on WPEN radio station. The picture shown is and advertisement poster for a redio concert on Philadelphia station WDAS.
