This digital collection contains photographs digitized from the City Parks Association of Philadelphia Records, an archival collection held by the Special Collections Research Center. The City Parks Association was chartered on May 24, 1888, for "the establishment and maintenance of public parks and open spaces throughout the City of Philadelphia." This collection consists of minutes and agendas, annual reports, membership information, financial records, correspondence, news clippings, and other records of the City Parks Association, as well as information - including property records, deeds, and wills - related to various specific parks and the Fairmount Park Commission. Also included are correspondence, financial, and property records related to Awbury Arboretum and the historic Francis Cope House in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. The photographs date from 1890 to 1930 and mainly include Philadelphia and surrounding-area views related to parks and general living conditions.
