The Frances Hirtzel Collection of Richard Owen Correspondence includes the correspondence of Owen (1804 – 1892), a prominent nineteenth century British anatomist and zoologist. Three of the five volumes are housed at Temple University Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center, and are presented here: Volume 1, 1826-1842; Volume IV, 1863-1869; and Volume V, 1869-1889; an additional volume located at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and another’s location is unidentified. Contact the Special Collections Research Center for additional materials, including 21 reels of microfilm holding the Owen Correspondence Collection in the Natural History Museum, London, England, and its calendar, as well as an expanded inventory of SCRC’s Hirtzel volumes I, IV, and V.
